GENERAL SUMMARY
The Storage Operations Specialist role is responsible for the storage configuration and operations management, along with daily storage management tasks in a complex environment. The typical environment for these residents contains multiple platforms of EMC storage hardware, EMC software, and other infrastructure products. This role will be responsible for ongoing improvement of processes and applying best practices for the environment, set by EMC standard.


Environment :

1. 10 PB of Storage
2. 70 odd Symmetrix / DMX
3. 40 odd CLARiiON / Celerra & Centera

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Shares ownership of operational responsibility for storage provisioning and availability at the customer site(s) with the Customer Storage Manager.
• Provisions storage based on standardized procedures detailed in the Operational Run Book and to meet customer agreed upon standards.
• Responsible for configuration, layout and performance tuning of storage infrastructure.
• Plans, coordinates, and is responsible for the execution of the business continuance and disaster recovery plans as agreed upon by EMC and the customer.
• Participates in the design and operational execution of the customer’s storage disaster recovery process as required.
• Performs necessary storage infrastructure maintenance in accordance with EMC and customer’s change management policies.
• Performs necessary data migration as required and defined by EMC's migration practices.
• Responsible for configuration, layout and performance tuning of storage infrastructure.
• Performance tuning in the environment when needed.
• Provides analysis of Environment and Best Practice knowledge transfer.
• Generate Regular operations reports using customer supplied tools, such as EMC Control Center.
• Recommend changes to procedures which result in operational optimization.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis reviews when applicable.

3. NAS L2 - 1 no. ( Netapps+Solaris)
4. SAN L3 - 1 no. ( SAN + Unix exp.)
5. SAN L2 - 1 no. ( SAN + Replication specialist)

• Strong consultative skills
• Cross-Functional skill.
• Proficiency in EMC hardware, software and/or operating systems environments.
• Knowledge of job associated programming and scripting languages.
• Possesses strong product/technology/industry knowledge.
• Knowledge of job associated database/software/documentation.

EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED - 5-8 years in a storage / technology environment.
Eligibility
• You should have a completed a minimum of 18 months in your current BU in EMC to be eligible for this position.
